FWC Champions FC saw a sweet 2-0 victory over EFCC FC at the Area 10, Old Parade Ground Pitch earlier on Thursday, January 23.
While we await the kick off of the NLO, our opponents who play in the NNL await the resumption of the NNL currently on break.
Both teams have had three meetings in the past with EFCC seeing wins in them all, the last game ended 2-1 however, the Champions Who Care regained her pride with a 2-0 win in the friendly game on Thursday.
Justin Emmanuel broke the deadlock in the 36th minute when he placed the ball above the EFCC FC goalkeeper after connecting from a quick pass by Timothy Daweng.
The first half ended 1-0 with the same scoreline until the second half resumed when Ijaga Israel delivered a sensational goal in the 86th minute to assure his side of the win.
Both coaches spoke to our official website after the match, giving their analysis of the game.
EFCC Head Coach, Kabiru Owolabi said:
“FWC Champions FC is a very good team and also the head coach is someone I respect so much and I look up to him in Abuja.
“In Football, you continue to grow, you can’t just remain where you are and I had told my boys before the game to expect the best from FWC Champions FC. This is a different team compared to the one I knew last year. I promise to give a good fight in next meeting” he said
Our head Coach, Bartholomew David also had this to say:
“The game was okay, I have a lot of respect for EFCC FC, I have watched their games severally, their friendlies, and equally their league matches. They have a good side.
” I feel I should give them my best, we met during the preseason, then I was still trying my players and then went down 2-1. But today, I had told him I will give him a good match and honestly, from the start of the game, I assumed it was a league match because I wanted to assess my players before the commencement of the league.
“We are ready for the league even though we have some positions to fill. We are ready and as I told you, we are gearing up for promotion.”
