The end of a busy week for FWC Champions FC came to an end with a 1-1 draw against NNL side, Niger Tornadoes at the Area 3 Sports Complex, Abuja, on Thursday, January 30.
After seeing wins in the games against African Future Stars and FC Senssini on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Champions Who Care filed out against the former NPFL side as preparations continue for the season proper.
A goal by Tony Obuji in the 88th minute canceled the own-goal by Friday Musa in the 31st minute to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Efforts by FWC Champions to go ahead with missed chances by Godfrey and Ijaga Isreal failed as they were unable to find the back of the net in different attempts.
Goalkeeper Aweta Suguren was awake to his duty when he saved a freekick that would have put the Minna-based team ahead.
However, the game ended in a 1-1 stalemate after 90 minutes of play with Coach Bartholomew David expressing delight over the “never say die” attitude of his players.
He stressed that there are still more “grey areas to work upon and that will be done before the start of the league”
